With a fantastic look, unique gimmick and incredible athleticism, does Kris Statlander have all the tools necessary to become the new AEW Women’s Champion?

Well in a word … YES! And a BIG YES at that.

But let’s look more in depth at exactly the reasons why.

Talented beyond her years

Kris Statlander will take on Riho for the AEW Women’s Championship on Jan. 1 in Jacksonville, Florida. Considering how far Kris’ career has progressed in such a short period of time, this is an incredible accomplishment. Kris Statlander was the first female graduate from the Create A Pro Wrestling Academy, a training facility based in New York, officially graduating in 2018.

However, she has only been wrestling for a little over two years. For a wrestler with such little experience, she is clearly talented beyond her years and experience. She reminds me of an early version of Sara Del Rey, another incredibly talented performer, with sound technical skills who just seems to continuously improve with every match she wrestles.

Before signing full time with AEW, Statlander mainly wrestled for independent promotions in the Northeast region such as Beyond Wrestling, Chaotic Wrestling, and Limitless Wrestling. Putting on absolute classics with fellow female competitors such as Jordynne Grace, Thunder RosaPriscilla Kelly etc, also male wrestlers as well such as David Starr, MJFChris Dickinson et al.

In particular, a match from earlier this year hosted by Beyond Wrestling’s weekly wrestling series “Uncharted Territory” stands out, where she wrestled Joey Janela in a 30-minute balls to the wall classic. Which, in my opinion, is the greatest Intergender wrestling match I have ever seen.

An absolute barrage of non stop action, it’s one of those matches where you get completely lost in the moment. A cavalcade of excitement and an unbelievable thrill ride. It’s available on Independent Wrestling TV’s subscription service and is well worth your time.

From this match and all these performances listed above, it’s clear to see she has a fantastic attitude and passion for the business, which is backed up beautifully by her in-ring performances.
