2019 has been a pretty big year for WWE women’s wrestling. Female wrestlers continue breaking down wrestling barriers, like main eventing WrestleMania for the first time, and earning the introduction of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles for example.

A lot of history is in the making in the WWE, and this can partly be attributed to the growing and dynamic women’s roster. Here’s a breakdown of the top five best women wrestlers of 2019 in the WWE.

#5 . Rhea Ripley

The Nightmare, Rhea Ripley, has had one hell of a year and to top it all off, she has been able to accomplish it all in a relatively short time span.

Ripley started out the year as the inaugural WWE NXT UK Women’s Championship. Although she lost the title at NXT TakeOver: Blackpool to Toni Storm, The Nightmare’s name has already been stitched into the history books by being the first WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion.

Later on, in the 2019 Royal Rumble, Ripley proved just how dominant she can be as she eliminated three competitors before moving on to a feud with Piper Niven on NXT UK.

The last few months of 2019 saw Ripley captain her own team for the first ever Women’s War Games at NXT TakeOver: War Games III, picking up an unanticipated victory over Team Baszler.

This victory led Ripley to represent NXT the following night at Survivor Series in another team victory, this time over Raw and SmackDown. Adding the NXT Women’s Championship to The Nightmare’s list of accolades was just icing on the cake.

The momentum that Rhea has created for herself not only instills that 2019 was Ripley’s year, but also helps catapult her into an eventful 2020.
