WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 5 possible returns
Nia Jax
Ruby Riott has missed months with two shoulder injuries, and Nia Jax has been out after tearing BOTH ACLs. I can hardly fathom the pain of going through one ACL tear and having to miss months of action as an athlete due to a severe injury in one knee, but TWO? Nia is a warrior.
Jax also looks like a good bet to return in January, and a Rumble return would line up nicely with her expected timetable for return from these knee injuries.
There’s also the history here. Nia stole the show at last year’s Rumble by eliminating Mustafa Ali and then taking finishers from multiple male superstars, including Randy Orton. On some level, it was weird to see her take all those finishers, but, on another level, it was pretty freaking cool to see her get the rub of being in the late stages of the Men’s Rumble match in 2019. And it’d be awesome if she did something similar in 2020 after returning from two severe injuries.
Jinder Mahal
Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has slowly earned the respect of wrestling fans, who once ridiculed the Modern Day Maharaja as a champion. Now, many look back fondly on his title reign, especially since it set up a big moment for a babyface AJ Styles to win the WWE Championship to a massive pop in Manchester.
Mahal has also been out with a knee injury, but a Royal Rumble return looks like a lock for a man who was once SmackDown’s top heel.
