1. The New Day
Like The Usos, the fans refused to give The New Day, during their run as happy go lucky preachers, a fair shot until they turned heel, but in The New Day’s case, they reached a level of success that no one (fan, critic, wrestler, producer, or New Day themselves) ever could have imagined.
Not only did they eventually earn the respect of the fans, they became top merch sellers, they hosted a WrestleMania, they got their own podcast, and they even got their own cereal. Their own cereal! That by itself is an incredible feat.
However, beyond the perks that come with being beloved unicorn horn wielders, their popularity soared to the point that it eventually led to Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Not many (if any) tag teams can catapult their work into a major singles win on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but alas, it happened.
Even better, not only did The New Day remain as a unit after KofiMania came to fruition, but it was long after the fact that The New Day became a record seven time Tag Team Champions. And we haven’t even mentioned that they became the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history in the middle of all this.
It’s rare that any tag team or stable even lasts six years, but going into their sixth year as a team, The New Day have accomplished more this decade than most tag teams have accomplished in a lifetime. Between their unforgettable promos, incredible matches and everything they’ve done in between, I hope the 2020’s doesn’t see The New Day break up any time soon heading into the new decade.
It’s clear that all three men produce far more entertainment and success together than apart. Sometimes, special things like this shouldn’t end.
