4. Money in the Bank

One of the best matches of the year took place at Money in the Bank when AJ Styles and Seth Rollins went head-to-head for the Universal Championship. See, THAT is how Rollins should have been booked as a champ throughout his reign. The best wrestlers in the company should have the best feuds and be able to go all-out at major PPVs when they hold a title.

But the best moment of the night went to Bayley. Her cash-in on Charlotte Flair on the same night that she became the third Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner was one of the feel-good moments of the year. It also marked the return of Bayley as a main event player in WWE, and she’s been producing the best work of her career since.

Money in the Bank doesn’t crack the top three for two reasons. Firstly, Shane McMahon’s over The Miz began a disastrous ego trip that served no purpose until Kevin Owens took matters into his own hands by becoming a massive babyface out of it all. And secondly, Brock Lesnar injured Ali with one of the worst Money in the Bank victories in recent memory.

3. SummerSlam

WWE pretty much always knock SummerSlam out of the park, and 2019’s party was no exception. This show had it all, even a squash match in which Goldberg beat the hell out of Dolph Ziggler, who basically exists in WWE in 2019 so that people can beat the hell out of him.

Seth Rollins’ second triumph over Brock Lesnar was just as well-done as the first, Becky Lynch and Natalya put on a damn clinic, Kevin Owens mercifully beat Shane, and Charlotte Flair helped give Trish Stratus the perfect ending to her career in her hometown of Toronto.

Basically, the women killed it again, and any weird booking decisions in the Men’s Division at Money in the Bank were righted at SummerSlam. This show will go down in history as Stratus’ final match in WWE, and Charlotte will be remembered for putting on yet another great individual performance with the world watching her.

Oh, and this guy named The Fiend debuted. Have you heard of him? Because I just let him in…
