John Morrison is back in WWE, but he has yet to make an appearance on any of the three brands. It looks like he could be making his return to kick off a new year on the Blue Brand.

SmackDown on FOX looks like the WWE brand that will appeal to a mass audience, given the nature of the show’s storylines. FOX has done a good job of promoting the show, especially on social media, and they have ideal top talent in Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks and Bayley, and The New Day.

But the Blue Brand could use another splash acquisition to spice things up on the Road to WrestleMania 36 in the new year.

Ryan Satin reported on WWE Backstage’s “The Satin Sheet” that John Morrison is indeed officially back with the company after a successful stint as the face of Impact Wrestling. (He was literally named “Johnny Impact”.)

However, Morrison has yet to debut on Raw, SmackDown, or NXT in the weeks since the news of his return broke.

He could make his official return tonight.

According to a report from PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, Morrison is in Memphis on Jan. 3, which is the location for the upcoming episode of SmackDown.

Johnson also reports another big name is in attendance, as actor and former WCW Champion David Arquette is in Memphis. He recently appeared on an episode of WWE Backstage to cut a promo with another former world champion Booker T.

Morrison would be a fantastic addition to the SmackDown roster and could have dream programs/segments with The Miz, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, and more.

He’s a perfect babyface with ridiculous athleticism and charisma. Morrison is a household name who would be a true nostalgia addition to Friday Night SmackDown.

So keep an eye out for Morrison’s possible return on the first SmackDown of 2020. Already announced matches include the Boss’N’Hug Connection vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. Dana Brooke and Lacey Evans, as well as a tag team match between Daniel Bryan/Roman Reigns and Dolph Ziggler/King Corbin.
