WWE: The Usos return couldn’t have come at a better time

Jimmy and Jey Uso are four-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions, and they returned to the Blue Brand on the first episode of SmackDown in 2020 to save their cousin Roman Reigns.

A few weeks ago, King Corbin and his cronies handcuffed Roman Reigns to the ringpost and poured dog food all over him in a humiliating segment that irked WWE fans for multiple reasons.

After The Fiend took Daniel Bryan out of the equation with a Mandible Claw at ringside during Bryan and Reigns’ tag team match against King Corbin and his new pal Dolph Ziggler, it looked like the Big Dog would suffer the same fate. Corbin and Ziggler had Reigns handcuffed to the ropes and were set to pour two cans of dog food all over the multiple-time WrestleMania main eventer.

Instead, Reigns was saved. The Usos music hit, and they cleaned out, sparing Reigns and the rest of the WWE Universe from another awful dog food incident.

Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue first reported that Jimmy and Jey Uso would be returning to WWE around Royal Rumble time, and he couldn’t have been more spot on. The best tag team in the world,

The Usos marked their return on the first episode of SmackDown in the New Year and are well on their way to making some noise on Friday nights in the build to the Rumble.

Their return couldn’t have come at a better time.

The SmackDown Tag Team Division is in a great place with The Revival and Heavy Machinery in compelling storylines, The New Day as champions, and John Morrison and The Miz set to form a tandem after Morrison made his highly-anticipated return to WWE on the same night that his tag partner went “full heel”.

(Bray Wyatt tends to make wrestlers throw back to the past, which will be the case for Morrison and Miz).

So there are several dream feuds for The Usos to kick off 2020.

But beyond that, Reigns needed The Usos. He needed his family to help him in a time of need, as not having backup hurt Reigns at TLC when he went up against Corbin and all of his stooges. (Why on earth does Corbin have so many friends? Who the hell can stand him?)

Reigns is headed for big things this WrestleMania season and will likely conquer The Fiend in the show’s main event after winning the Royal Rumble. But to get to that point, he needs some help from trusted, talented people, and Jimmy and Jey certainly fit the bill.

It will be exciting to see how The Usos figure into WWE’s WrestleMania plans this year, and the nature of their return is an indication of the important role they’ll play in January and beyond.

They are an incredible tag team, and it’s awesome to see them back in the ring.
