Backstage, Sonya Deville says she wants her and Mandy Rose to focus on winning in 2020, but Rose’s mind seems elsewhere. She tells Deville to meet her in the ring, she has one thing to do first. She pulls out what appears to be a box of pastries.

Ladies and Gentlemen … Elias

Back in the ring, Elias does his usual schtick. He provides a live performance of “Road to the Rumble, where he sings about his aspirations to win the Royal Rumble and everyone he plans to toss out the ring.

After that, we’re back backstage as Tucker tries to convince Otis to let Mandy go. In on cue is Rose with her box. She apologizes to Otis for letting Dolph Ziggler step on his fruit cake, so she gifts him a homemade “I’m Sorry” cake. I won’t lie. I audibly awed as Rose left for her match.

Alexa Bliss (w/ Nikki Cross) vs. Mandy Rose (w

Lockup to start. Rose backs Bliss into a corner, where she smooshes her in the face. Staredown until we get another collar and elbow tie up. Bliss bounces off the ropes, but it’s like running into a brick wall. Rose goads and pushes Bliss until Bliss slaps Rose in the face and pounds her in the corner, followed by a drop toe hold in the middle of the ring.

Then another slap until Rose drives Bliss into the corner, followed by some shoulder blocks. Bliss gets back into this after slapping Rose out of the ring, before baseball sliding her. Bliss gets on the apron, as does Sonya Deville. Cross tries to pull her off before she could try anything, but Deville kicks her away. Bliss elbows Deville in the face, while Rose hits a gnarly knee to the face for a near fall.

Cue a sleeper hold spot until Bliss fights out of it with a rear naked chinlock. Both competitors punch each other in the face, then double clothesline each other. Both women down. Back to their feet, Bliss slaps Rose down and starts her comeback spot, but in the middle of it, Heavy Machinery comes out with the cake.

Bliss is confused, leading Bliss to get rolled up by Rose.

Winner: Mandy Rose

Grade: B

On one hand, at first, I thought it was weird for Rose to act heel during the match after acting babyface with Otis, but if this storyline turns into Rose manipulating Otis to help her win, then I love that twist in the story. I’m looking forward to see where this goes, so the ending was interesting. Beyond that, Bliss and Rose have great chemistry.
