WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 3 awesome showdowns for Brock Lesnar at No. 2
Last week on Raw, Paul Heyman announced that Brock Lesnar will be the first entrant in the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Men’s match. Here are three wrestlers we’d love to see immediately face off with The Beast Incarnate.
Brock Lesnar is one of the least popular wrestlers in WWE, so pretty much anyone else on the roster is a preferable option to win this year’s Men’s Rumble in the eyes of the fans. At WWE Royal Rumble 2020, The Beast Incarnate will take on all comers as the first entrant in the men’s match, yet he won’t actually be putting the WWE Title on the line. (Figures).
On the bright side, that means Lesnar most likely isn’t winning the match, and whoever eliminates him – it’ll surely come down to the wire – will face him for the title at WrestleMania. My colleague Raphael Garcia already came up with a list of five wrestlers who would be fantastic options to eliminate The Beast on Jan. 26.
But I’d like to go in a little bit of a different direction and select three wrestlers who I’d love to see in a face-to-face showdown with Lesnar. All three of these men are stars in either NXT or NXT UK, and it would be awesome to see them immediately fight Lesnar as the No. 2 entrants in a star-making Rumble performance.

Matt Riddle
The King of Bros has stated his desire to not only dethrone Brock Lesnar, but he also would like to be the one to retire The Beast.
Since Lesnar isn’t showing any signs of slowing down and keeps getting called for this part-time gimmick every WrestleMania season, it probably isn’t happening this year. Which means Riddle winning is basically out of the question.
But why not plant a seed? Show WWE fans that Riddle already has the tools to go toe-to-toe with Lesnar but merely needs a little bit more seasoning to prove he can beat The Beast.
Riddle is one of the most exciting and charismatic performers in NXT, and he has the MMA and wrestling background to take down Lesnar.
Keith Lee
Keith Lee would be an ideal No. 2 entrant to stare down Brock Lesnar and get a few heavy shots on him. Furthermore, Lee would be an excellent option to actually beat The Beast this year and have an unlikely WrestleMania title match, though he is already tied up with a title match for Roderick Strong’s North American Championship.
Out of all the sleeper options to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, Lee is the one with a valid shot. WWE seems incredibly high on “The Limitless One” – as they should be. Lee is a once-in-a-lifetime performer who is the full package. He’s great in the ring, he has incredible strength, his move-set is extensive, his mic work is fantastic, and he knows how to do all the little things (like being GIFable during matches).
On top of that, Lee already has made an impact with two past showdowns. He got us all hyped up for a future dream feud with Braun Strowman before Survivor Series, and then he earned a show of respect from Roman Reigns during the actual five-on-five elimination match.
Lee is going straight to the top, and a strong Rumble showing that includes an evenly-matched battle with Lesnar – or even an elimination of The Beast, but let’s not get our hopes up just yet – could go a long way.
WALTER
WALTER is the leader of the Imperium stable in NXT UK, and they are currently embroiled in an exciting feud with The Undisputed Era in the build to Worlds Collide. One of the best wrestlers in the company, WALTER is the United Kingdom Champion, having recently retained the title over Joe Coffey at NXT UK TakeOver Blackpool.
Seeing Lesnar and WALTER trade strikes inside the Royal Rumble would be an absolute sight to behold. WALTER’s power game is tremendous, and, like Lee, he is one of the few wrestlers outside Raw and SmackDown who could believably stand toe-to-toe with The Beast.
If WALTER does enter No. 2 and trade blows with Lesnar, he could help boost NXT UK’s profile even further. Wrestlers like Toni Storm, Jordan Devlin, Kay Lee Ray, “Viper” Piper Niven, Pete Dunne, and Tyler Bate have done plenty to make NXT UK must-see, but the added advertisement WALTER could provide in the Rumble would be huge, too.
