Kairi Sane and Asuka have now become the longest reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions in WWE, but which teams could end their reign in 2020?

The Women’s Tag Team Titles main evented TLC in December, as they have made quite the rise in status during the Kabuki Warriors’ reign with them. Asuka and Kairi Sane have boosted the profiles of titles that were once rumored to be an afterthought to Vince McMahon. The former NXT Women’s Champions have forced Vince and others to take notice of the great work the women’s tag teams are doing.

Bayley and Sasha Banks were the first champs after an emotional win at the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View last year, the IIconics took the titles at WrestleMania 35, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss solidified their unlikely pairing by winning the belts, and now Sane and Asuka are the championships’ longest-reigning holders.

But who could the Kabuki Warriors put over in 2020? And will it happen during WrestleMania season? Here are three possible tag teams who could defeat the dynamic duo of Sane and Asuka.

Dana Brooke and Lacey Evans

Let’s start with a newly-formed tag team comprised of wrestlers that Vince McMahon seems to be high on. Dana Brooke recently signed a five-year contract with WWE, who have been locking up their wrestlers in an effort to keep everyone on the books during wrestling’s boom. A fan favorite, Brooke has improved to the point where she could be headed for a push in 2020, though that remains to be seen.

She has been teaming up recently with Lacey Evans on Friday Night SmackDown to take on the two-woman “power trip” of Sasha Banks and Bayley. Their matches together have been predictably awesome, highlighting how much Brooke and Evans have improved in the ring over the past couple of years.

Evans and Brooke aren’t a lock to win the Women’s Tag Titles together or to even be a permanent team, but don’t overlook their chances of winning their first championships in the company together.

Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose

Many fans seem to think that Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose are destined to break up sooner rather than later, pointing to the popular Rose/Otis storyline as a prime opportunity for WWE to break apart these two.

And Sonya has been talking up Fire and Desire a little TOO much…

That said, Deville and Rose have been tabbed as future Women’s Tag Team Champions for quite some time, and if they were to break up, there might be more *ahem* fire in their storyline if they were to fall apart during a championship reign.

Fans are split on Deville and Rose. Some think they have potential as a tag team, while others believe they’d truly blossom apart as singles competitors. I’m inclined to agree with the latter, but nobody will be surprised if Fire and Desire pull off a title win in 2020 by beating Sane and Asuka.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

Purely looking at storytelling elements, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss may be the most logical pairing to defeat Kairi Sane and Asuka this year, especially if the title change is planned at WrestleMania 36. Cross and Bliss lost the tag titles to the Kabuki Warriors at the Hell in a Cell Pay Per View, and while they’ve regained some momentum together in late 2019, they haven’t really done much to get those titles back.

Bliss and Cross are one of the most popular tag teams in WWE, as Bliss is one of the company’s most popular wrestlers and Cross was one of the company’s biggest breakout stars in 2019. Their chemistry is undeniable, and fans can’t get enough of the dynamic between them.

In the ring, they are the best tag team of the three listed here, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they got their revenge on Sane and Asuka at ‘Mania. It doesn’t seem like they have anything big planned in singles competition and Bliss usually plays a key role at ‘Mania, so be on the lookout here.
