Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre [Grudge Match]

Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre perform some ground based offense to start this match. McIntyre locks Orton in a chin lock and Orton bounces off the ropes for momentum to deliver a Shoulder Block. McIntyre looks winded and Orton asks if McIntyre is ok in a sarcastic manner.

McIntyre delivers a Knife Edge Chop to Orton and asks if Orton is ok. Orton looks winded from that chop. Orton delivers two Back Suplexes to McIntyre on the barricade wall in retaliation. He attempts a third but McIntyre counters and attempts a Claymore Kick but Orton moves out of the way and McIntyre inadvertently delivers a Claymore Kick to the timekeeper. As the medics run to check on the timekeeper, the show goes to commercial.

Back from commercial, Orton delivers a mid air dropkick to McIntyre outta nowhere. Orton and McIntyre deliver uppercuts and knife edge chops to each other until Orton delivers a thumb in the eye of McIntyre. He then hurls McIntyre through the middle rope and delivers his patented DDT from the ropes. Orton pounds the mat for the RKO.

McIntyre counters the RKO with a Glasglow Kiss Head Butt. He tells Randy to get up and charges at Orton with a Belly to Belly Suplex for the two-count and a snap suplex. He then kips up and gets ready for the Claymore Kick. 3…..2…….1…. McIntyre sprints for the Claymore but Orton counters with the Scoop Slam for the two-count.

Orton props McIntyre up on the top rope and delivers a SuperPlex. AJ Styles and The O.C. then run in the ring to attack Drew McIntyre and force a disqualification finish. Randy Orton grabs a chair to save McIntyre and attack The O.C. Drew McIntyre then gains the opportunity to Claymore Karl Anderson.

The O.C. escape the ring, and Orton and McIntyre have a stare-down. Orton drops the chair and acts as if he is going to leave the ring. McIntyre lets his guard down and Orton delivers an RKO to Drew McIntyre. McIntyre gets a mic and orates that he made a mistake for trusting a snake and he will Claymore Orton’s head off his shoulders at the Royal Rumble, win the Rumble, and finally main event WrestleMania.

Result: Drew McIntyre (by DQ)

Grade: 3.0/5.0 Stars

Analysis: Despite the inconclusive finish, this match was enjoyable to watch. McIntyre’s promo seems promising and could be a sign of things to come. However, it seems that his main feud will be with Randy Orton on the road to WrestleMania 36. Charlotte is then seen in a backstage interview to talk about her Royal Rumble aspirations and Becky Lynch walks to the ring, as she is battling one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Kairi Sane, NEXT!
