WWE Royal Rumble 2020 will take place on Sunday, and while Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar look like the clear favorites to win the Men’s Rumble match, CM Punk knows who the best possible winner is.

Keith Lee and Rhea Ripley stole the show at WWE Survivor Series last year. That much is clear. There was nothing quite like watching Lee go toe-to-toe with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as all three represented their respective brands as the last three men standing in the 5-on-5 men’s elimination match.

Lee didn’t come out victorious – Roman did – but after making the lasting image on the SmackDown go-home show a stand-off between himself and Braun Strowman, Lee did more than enough at the Big 5 Pay Per View to establish himself as THE male breakout star in NXT.

So why not go all the way with The Limitless One at WWE Royal Rumble 2020 and have him eliminate Brock Lesnar to win the match and punch a ticket to a potential marquee WWE Title main event at WrestleMania 36?

CM Punk, for one, sees it that way. The WWE icon and current WWE Backstage analyst gave Lee as his pick for who *should* win the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match on Sunday.

The sensible winner is, of course, Roman Reigns. He’s the safest option, and everything is set for him to reclaim his status as the company’s undisputed (sorry, Adam Cole) top male star by defeating The Fiend for the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 36. It just makes too much sense. This would be the perfect redemption story for Reigns, who never lost the Universal Title.

But Lee would be a dream pick (please emphasize the word “dream” here) for many fans, since WWE fans love seeing new stars win big matches. It never happens, and they’re usually lying to themselves (see: reaction to Jinder Mahal) but, in theory, they love shocks like Lee winning the Rumble.

There’s a way to give Lee a HUGE rub, give NXT a massive win, and put the Third Brand on center stage at WrestleMania 36 without having Lee win the actual Rumble. Just have Lee eliminate Brock to set up the WWE Title match and then have Reigns win the whole thing to set up the Universal Title match. Simple, right?

Either way, CM Punk is right on the money when it comes to Keith Lee’s star power. Push the guy to the moon.
