Charlotte Flair reportedly not scheduled to face Becky Lynch or Bayley
Charlotte Flair surprised most fans when she eliminated Shayna Baszler to win the 2020 Royal Rumble, but who will she face at WrestleMania 36?
Shayna Baszler was originally scheduled to win the 2020 Royal Rumble, and she was heavily favored by fans, insiders, and bookies to punch her ticket to WrestleMania where Becky Lynch would presumably be waiting for her.
Although The Queen of Spades eliminated eight women in a matter of minutes near the end of the match and was among the final two, she didn’t get her big moment in Houston. Instead, Charlotte Flair, who had a strong Rumble match in her own right, picked up a victory that, initially seemed shocking.
Charlotte’s win is particularly interesting when looking at who the champions on Raw and SmackDown are. The Queen’s had so many matches with Becky Lynch, including last year’s WrestleMania main event, that she seems to be an unlikely opponent for Charlotte. And the same can be said about Bayley, as the two had a feud on SmackDown last year and on Raw in 2017.
In his POST Wrestling news update, John Pollock informed readers that neither Becky nor Bayley are currently scheduled to be Charlotte’s opponents at WrestleMania 36.
Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin didn’t want to spoil fans, but he has heard “interesting” things regarding Charlotte’s opponent.
Plenty of fans have complained about Flair’s victory, noting how often the 10-time champion wins. But Charlotte’s victories are generally used to put over other stars, as in the case of current champions Becky and Bayley.
So Charlotte has a chance to put over an up-and-coming star big time at WrestleMania after scoring her first career Royal Rumble victory. And based on what the fans want, it seems like an NXT Women’s Title match at WrestleMania between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley could actually happen, especially if Becky and Bayley aren’t in the cards for The Queen. That would be a fantastic match that would surely quiet the Charlotte haters. Well, at least for a little bit.
