Sasha Banks trended on Twitter during WWE Royal Rumble 2020, even though she wasn’t in the actual match.

You’d think that Sasha Banks, who is widely regarded as one of the top three wrestlers in the company, would have been a major part of this year’s Royal Rumble. She and Bayley are reportedly scheduled for a dream WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 36, having become the leaders of the SmackDown Women’s Division.

Yet Banks wasn’t in the Royal Rumble, which Charlotte Flair ended up winning after eliminating No. 30 entrant Shayna Baszler.

Fans were buzzing – and not in a positive way. Banks, after all, was the Ironwoman of the first Women’s Rumble match two years ago, and she was a major part of the Pay Per View last year in a Match of the Year contender with Ronda Rousey.

According to Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp, Banks missed the Rumble match because, as many fans began to suspect, she wasn’t medically cleared.

Banks hasn’t wrestled in a match for weeks, and SRS can now confirm that The Legit Boss is dealing with an injury.

No other details have been made available at this point, but now that it’s known Banks is injured, more should be coming.

It’s a shame we didn’t get to see Banks involved in the Rumble match or at the PPV in some capacity, but hopefully she’s able to get some rest and will return at 100 percent soon. Banks was the biggest star in the Rumble a couple of years ago and would have made an interesting dynamic in the match with Shayna and Charlotte also in there at the end.

Banks not being in the Rumble doesn’t rule out a match against Bayley. If anything, the build towards their first match PPV outside of NXT should get much more exciting without a Rumble win. They are capable of the best storytelling in the company, so fans should be on the edge of their seats.

Again, we can only hope Banks is doing OK and returns soon.
