Buddy Murphy

Another up-and-coming star whom Paul Heyman seems to be quite high on, Buddy Murphy has joined Seth Rollins in the Raw main event scene as part of a truly villainous stable. Murphy’s in-ring ability has earned him plaudits by wrestling fans over the years, and his match against Roman Reigns on SmackDown last year was a hidden gem.

If Rollins and Edge have a program this year, then Murphy would surely be a part of it. Murphy and Rollins seem to be headed for a slow-burn feud of their own that’s sure to have high-quality matches, but before we get to that point, a Murphy vs. Edge match as a setup to a Rollins vs. Edge match would be delightful.

Like Andrade, Murphy and Edge would have totally different in-ring styles, and it would be interesting to see how they mesh. As a one-off match, this could be a great way for Edge to put over Murphy, even in defeat.

Cesaro

A special, once-in-a-lifetime athlete in WWE, Cesaro established himself as one of the best tag team wrestlers in the company’s history during his runs with Tyson Kidd and, most recently, Sheamus. Now, fans can potentially look forward to him putting on tag team clinics alongside former NJPW legend and NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, who has brought over his manager – and also former NXT Champ – Sami Zayn.

But Cesaro’s in-ring qualities are so renowned that he shouldn’t just be restricted to tag matches. Fans have missed Cesaro as a singles competitor, as he’s been a part of some truly exceptional, show-stealing mid-card title matches.

Cesaro is a safe, consistent worker who could put on a gem of a match with Edge, accentuating the Rated R Superstar’s strengths. Edge can still “go” in the ring, judging by his Rumble performance. Cesaro may be a random opponent for Edge, and because of the latter’s limited schedule, this bout may never happen. But if it does, it’ll be a treat, especially for members of the faithful Cesaro Section.
