2. Maki Itoh

Maki Itoh is simultaneously one of the most charismatic wrestlers that I’ve seen wrestling today and one of the most disarmingly brash wrestlers I’ve ever seen period. At 5’3 with a semblance of a pop star character, she’s gained a reputation on the internet for being “cute,” but the a term like “s*** starter” more accurately comes to mind.

Once that bell rings and she comes face to face with her opponent, she is much more likely to smush them in the face and flip them the bird before she does anything stereotypically “cute.” Kittens are cute. Itoh is as aggressive and violent as a wrestler can get.

The oxymoron of her image with her actions can be a strange dichotomy to get used to when watching her matches, but at the same time, but it also makes her incredibly fun to watch in Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, where she is just coming off of a reign with the International Princess Championship (somewhat of the company’s equivalent to the Intercontinental Championship).

She’s only been wrestling for a few years now (since 2016), but she already has her character downpact and has a thrilling moveset to boot.

To be so skilled at her age and experience is impressive to the point that it would not be hard to imagine her holding her own against the biggest, most charming stars on the AEW roster. So, naturally, it only makes sense to add her to the AEW roster.
