WWE Elimination Chamber 2020: Ranking each woman’s chances of facing Becky Lynch
2. Asuka
Asuka and Becky Lynch have reached “fight forever” territory, which is a phrase WWE recently invoked to hype up another classic between Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee on NXT.
Lynch and Asuka recently had a match on Raw that was interrupted by Shayna Baszler, who is keen on snagging the Raw Women’s Championship after Rhea Ripley ended her second dominant reign as NXT Women’s Champion in December.
The Empress of Tomorrow defeated Lynch at the Royal Rumble in 2019 before Becky’s big win at WrestleMania 35, but Lynch more than avenged her loss in another absolute clinic of a match at this year’s Rumble Pay Per View.
A third big-time PPV match could be coming to settle the score now that it’s tied 1-1, so don’t count Asuka out. You never know with Vince McMahon.
1. Shayna Baszler
While Asuka is a legitimate threat to win this WWE Elimination Chamber 2020 match, Shayna Baszler is the overwhelming favorite for a reason. She is one of the few wrestlers left who can believably beat Becky, as the Raw Women’s Champion has been booked as the most dominant wrestler in WWE. Her win over Asuka sealed her place.
There are some fans who have reservations about Baszler, pointing towards the poorly-received Survivor Series main event. Since fans have rarely seen Becky or Bayley partake in an underwhelming match, Shayna became the scapegoat.
But this is unfair. Baszler has put on some fantastic title matches in NXT against the likes of Ember Moon, Io Shirai, and Bianca Belair. Her December match against Rhea Ripley was especially brilliant, putting over “The Nightmare” as one of wrestling’s biggest stars.
Baszler is headed for a dominant night inside one of the biggest “cages” of them all. Becky vs. Shayna is a big-ticket WrestleMania title match, and it’s unlikely The Queen of Spades is denied this opportunity.
