WWE: 3 possible opponents for Braun Strowman as IC Champion
Braun Strowman defeated Shinsuke Nakamura for WWE’s Intercontinental Championship on the New Year’s Eve episode of SmackDown. He’s still feuding with Nakamura’s stable, but who could be the next true rival for the Monster Among Men?
Despite having multiple opportunities at Brock Lesnar and the Universal Championship, Braun Strowman didn’t win his first singles title in WWE until the last televised show of 2019. Strowman’s meteoric rise in WWE began near the end of 2016, as his memorable rivalry with then-ultimate babyface Sami Zayn – buoyed by Mick Foley’s emotional involvement – helped catapult him to stardom. And his ensuing feud with Roman Reigns entrenched him as a star.
WWE had a number of opportunities to put a world title on Strowman, but they elected to use the former Wyatt Family member as a means of strengthening Lesnar. Heading into 2020’s WrestleMania season, Strowman is the Intercontinental Champion for his first singles title.
Strowman defeated Shinsuke Nakamura on the Jan. 31 episode of SmackDown to become the prestigious mid-card title’s holder, but he’s still been busy feuding with Nakamura and his stablemates Sami Zayn and Cesaro in February. Recently, he and Elias defeated the heels in a disastrous Symphony of Destruction match, though the win hopefully signifies the beginning of something new for the “Monster Among Men”.
But who could Strowman face next? Will he have multiple opponents on the Road to WrestleMania 36 where a multi-man ladder match is an enticing possibility?
Here are three men on SmackDown whom Strowman should keep a close eye on.
