Welcome to the first edition of the AEW Rundown – a weekly column on AEW Dynamite & AEW Dark that gives you a look at the shows, and the things you need to know before next week’s episode.

This week, AEW Dynamite was the go home show for AEW Revolution, which is shaping up to be quite a great PPV. The go home show delivered on its promise to leave us wanting more heading into AEW Revolution, and I can’t wait to see how everything plays out.

With that being said, let’s take a look at what I thought were the 5 things from AEW this week that you need to know heading into AEW Revolution.

1) The Exalted One Will Arrive Soon

The Dark Order has been hinting at the Exalted One arriving for a few months now, and speculation has been all over the place about who that will be. Initial thoughts were Marty Scurll, but that has obviously changed as Marty signed with ROH and has started a rather great feud with Nick Aldis in the NWA.

AEW, however, has been having fun teasing us with lots of red herrings. From BTE showing us that Christopher Daniels had a creeper mask in his suitcase, to Raven doing at least one voice over in an Exalted One promo (the voice was distorted, but the speaker had Raven’s cadence and pronunciation, and it’s quite distinctive), to AEW putting Raven in the crowd behind them a week ago because we figured that out, to dropping references about Matt Hardy.

The strongest hint yet was given this past Wednesday when Evil Uno told SCU that the Exalted One was coming, and that Christopher Daniels would be rendered obsolete, calling back to Matt Hardy causing Jeff to “Fade away and classify himself as OBSOLETE! OBSOLETE!”

This, combined with hints that both parties have been dropping on Twitter has left fans wondering if Broken Matt Hardy will turn out to be the leader of the Dark Order, which would be a wonderful (pun intended) pay off to the story.
