Merick Rowan and The Dark Order: The Exalted One Revealed

Merick Rowan, the twin brother of Erick Rowan, has had quite a storied journey. The last we left off with Merick, he was happily reopening hit vintner business. However, like many stories, it did not end there. The final chapter, as far as we know, is told here.

For those that have been following my work for some time, you know of my stories covering the framing of Merick Rowan for the attempted murder of Roman Reigns (more on that later), and his stealing of the AEW World Championship from then champion, Chris Jericho. Merick moved to the Cayman Islands to attempt to restart his business as a Vintner, including a line of champagne named “BUBBLAY Chardonnay.”

Unfortunately for Merick, this is where it all went wrong again. Chris Jericho, being the marketing genius that he is, started his own line of Bubbly. Just like Rowan & Sons Vintner Enterprises before it, Merick & No Sons Vintner Enterpries (MAN’S Vintner Enterprises) was driven out of business.

Merick, looking to honour Chris Jericho by naming his drink after Jericho’s newest catchphrase, was undercut by Jericho himself. However, before we get to that, we must go through how Merick was falsely accused of trying to murder Roman Reigns.

The Real Story of Who Attacked Roman Reigns

While this is still all Tom Philips’ fault, Merick was trying to stop Erick from attacking Roman. In a video showing who we thought was Erick walking away from the scene of the crime, we were still left with a question: Who was driving the forklift?

Merick was accused by Daniel Bryan, and then promptly disappeared, as I documented here. As it turns out, Daniel Bryan made the same mistake many have: Thinking Erick was his brother, Merick.

The man we saw walking away on security camera was not Erick Rowan. That was Merick. Erick was the one driving the forklift. Somehow, this video led to people realizing that it was Erick that attacked Roman, even though we had no clear video of the driver.

The person walking away from the other side, if it was Erick, would have had to teleport from the forklift to the other side of the room. Obviously, this is impossible, and not an example of WWE’s inconsistent storytelling.

Instead, it was Merick we saw on camera. Given that the Rowan family is known for the ability to not be seen, Merick simply waited and faded into the background. When the objects came down to crush Roman, Merick simply used his herculean strength that he developed lifting 5000 pound barrels to stop the random backstage objects from crushing Roman. Thus why Roman was able to walk away with no scratches.

Merick, seeing that his job was done, walked away, and was caught on camera, as once the Rowans are moving, they can be seen. However, as mentioned earlier, Merick was then falsely blamed for the attack on Roman, and everyone eventually figured out it was Erick because of the sudden disappearance of Merick to the Cayman Islands (I swear, it wasn’t a dropped storyline! WWE never does that!).

Merick then lost everything after putting the $9 million dollars he sold the AEW World title for into his new Vintner business. Naturally, the little Vintner that could, couldn’t. It’s impossible to compete with the likes of Jericho, and Merick was left destitute once more.

In December of 2019, Merick reached out to me, as I have faithfully told his story, though I did not have all of it. Merick, as it turns out, did not attempt to murder Roman Reigns. Being left with absolutely nothing once again, Merick was distraught. Merick reached out to me and agreed to let me become his agent in an effort to find a way for his story to be told.

Enter The Dark Order

It wasn’t long after that Merick shared screenshots with me of him reaching out to the only people he thought could help: The Dark Order. Merick wanted revenge on everyone that have taken away his life: His brother, the WWE, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho, and grapes. He felt like he had nowhere else to go. It wasn’t soon after he reached out to the Dark Order that I lost contact with him.

Merick included my Twitter username and email in the letter to the Dark Order, as he hoped I would talk to them on his behalf. However, Merick disappeared again, and this time it wasn’t because he was just sitting still!

He was actually gone, as I flew out to the apartment he was staying in back in his home town in Minnesota. I even tried touching every area of the apartment to see if I could find his beard. No luck.

As I was doing this, I received an email from The Dark Order that simply said, “IT IS DONE.” Naturally, this scared the life out of me. However, I wasn’t content to leave him. Merick has been through so much that I felt like it was my journalistic… no, my personal responsibility to help my friend. I began reaching out to sources and tracking him down.

Keeping my promise to him, I kept looking. However, some weird things began to happen to my tweets. Some of my tweets had additional messages attached. I was progressively getting more and more freaked out. Eventually, they changed my cover photo and profile picture several times, photoshopping a Creeper mask over my face, and having the message “WE HAVE HIM” displayed on my cover photo.

My profile began to hint that Merick was going through a process with the Dark Order, and that Merick Rowan was taken. I kept digging into the matter, and as it happened, I started to get very close to the truth. I began to figure out who the Exalted One is. The Dark Order did not take kindly to this, and stepped up their search for me. Eventually, my entire Twitter account was taken over.

They didn’t want this story getting out. They sent Creepers after me. I lost full control of my Twitter account when the Creepers showed up outside my door, here in Canada, and began to hold me hostage inside my own home. Like a city under siege, the Dark Order surrounded my house and cut off my contact to the outside world.

They Had Merick, and They Had Me Surrounded

After taking over my Twitter, they cut the power to my house, and waited. I was wondering how I would ever get out of this situation when a voice from sky yelled with fire in its voice that the Creepers would be “DELETED!” Zenith, the one who is connected to the soul of Broken Matt Hardy, struck from the skies with such power that I can’t even begin to explain the sight.

The Creepers outside my house were immediately disintegrated and the power was restored to my home. I quickly regained control of my Twitter account and began working on this story.

Matt Hardy’s broken essence came and saved me from the attack, though how he is intertwined with the Dark Order is was not immediately clear, it soon became clear when Merick was brought into the equation.

This strained Zenith beyond anything it has ever experienced, and it played a role in weakening it and leaving it open to the corruption of the Abomination known as Abigail, as revealed in Matt Hardy’s Free The Delete.

So, now that all of this had been revealed, and I was saved, I finally discovered what happened with Merick. He was taken by The Dark Order. They saw in him a hatred that they have never seen in anyone else, and knew he would be open to further corruption.

They took him to North Carolina, and began to prepare him as a vessel of pure evil. Merick’s embraced his hatred, and invited the corruption of the Abomination into him, and was soon exalted above all else in The Dark Order.

The Abomination & Merick Rowan

Merick Rowan, at least for now, is the Exalted One. My research has shown there have been several through the ages, doing battle with Zenith, the broken essence of Matt Hardy. The Abomination took several physical forms throughout the years, and them most famous being Sister Abigail, the one who empowered Bray Wyatt.

The connection between the Wyatt Family and Dark Order is clear – The Abomination has been seeking Merick from the very beginning. Merick’s life was destroyed because his brother was a member of the Wyatt family, and little did we know that the Abomination was already clawing its way into Merick’s life. The Abomination saw the potential for the hatred of Merick and orchestrated events that led to his reaching out to the Dark Order.

When the Abomination is done with one vessel, it moves onto another, driving the previous vessel insane. In the Ultimate Deletion, Zenith, through the vessel of Matt Hardy, freed Bray from the Abomination, but it came at a steep cost.

We have seen the results of this in Bray Wyatt becoming The Fiend. Bray has been left a shell of his former self, completely soulless after the Abomination was through with him. It then moved on to Evil Uno, using him to setup The Dark Order and rebuild its strength.

The Abomination has now possessed Merick Rowan. He is the next in a line of many, going back millennia, and the one that has been waging war with Broken Matt Hardy for over 2000 years. As we learned on Free The Delete, the Abomination has been successful in corrupting Zenith, and may have killed it. I fear that the Abomination has only been using Merick to prepare itself for its ultimate vessel: Broken Matt Hardy.

All I know for sure is that a titanic clash of supernatural proportions is going to begin, and it has all started with the Abomination targeting the Rowan family, digging away and orchestrating events so that Merick would finally be open to the hatred required to become one of the Exalted Ones.

Will the Abomination finally have its way in destroying Zenith? Time will tell, but I will keep trying to reach out to Merick. I have to believe there is hope for his pour soul.
