Shayna Baszler would benefit from having Paul Heyman in her corner and could lead to bigger angles in the future of her WWE career.

Professional wrestling and mixed martial arts continue to blur the lines between the two in a practice that’s growing, but far from new. Shayna Baszler is yet the newest name prominently featured in the WWE that has also frequented the UFC Octagon.

What’s interesting is that fans and leadership backstage haven’t had the warmest welcome for the fighter with 14 years of experience. Two words that can help rectify the situation is Paul Heyman and when looking at the opportunity from a long-term perspective, putting Baszler with the advocate could have positive ramifications for everyone involved.

It may be hard to realize, but Baszler has only five years of professional wrestling experience under her belt. She made her debut in September of 2015 after training under another fighter with professional wrestling experience, Josh Barnett.

Baszler’s abilities in the cage transitioned well into pro wrestling as she’s played the methodical bully that likes to pick apart her opponents. Look at the way she’s dispatched so many opponents across her NXT run with moves that look disgustingly painful.

But along the way, her glaring weakness was also on display. Baszler struggles in becoming the over-the-top character which is vital in becoming a major star that fans enjoy. This is where Heyman enters the equation.

Even though Brock Lesnar is decent in the promo category; Heyman has served as his consistent mouthpiece starting in 2002. In the 18 years since the two have turned on each other and realigned into the duo that we see today.

However, there’s a growing conversation about whether their act has grown “stale” in recent years. While there may be some truth to that, the addition of Baszler could become a different look for everyone involved.

Heyman can support Lesnar in other opportunities either with or without the championship, while supporting Baszler in the same role within the women’s division. If Baszler’s lack of a big personality is limiting the fans’ interest in her, adding Heyman can help circumvent that issue as she builds that skill.

Imagine the promos that Heyman could have standing at the side of both Lesnar and Baszler or going back and forth with Becky Lynch and others.

Plus, there’s another angle that can play out with Heyman being paired with Baszler. The Ronda Rousey angle. It’s well known that Baszler and Rousey are close friends and members of the MMA Four Horsewomen. Heyman has worked with Rousey in the past during her recent run in the promotion, helping her from behind the scenes.

Pairing Heyman and Baszler together could lead to even bigger ordeals involving the entire group of fighters, Rousey, Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke all working with the former head of ECW. Heyman’s creativity has helped many stars find their way to prominence on the WWE roster. Getting him involved in what will be one of the biggest angles in the future of the WWE would go a long way.

For the time being, Shayna Baszler is the only member of the MMA Four Horsewomen who has a place on WWE television. As WWE Creative continues to attempt to get her over as a credible threat to Becky Lynch, pairing her with Paul Heyman would help elevate the areas where she’s struggling. He’s done it before both on and off camera. This opportunity would benefit all that are involved.
