Bray Wyatt recently lost the Universal Championship to Goldberg in Saudi Arabia, but could he pick up at WWE WrestleMania 36 victory over a much bigger wrestling legend?

John Cena and Bray Wyatt have had quite the history together in WWE. Wyatt and Cena had a match at WrestleMania 30, in which The Face That Runs The Place went over. Fans didn’t react to that Cena win well – as expected – but it’s easy to forget that Cena put over Wyatt big-time in the Elimination Chamber in 2017 on Wyatt’s road to WrestleMania 33 as WWE Champion.

In 2020, Cena could be ready to put over Wyatt in an even stronger way. Wyatt’s stock is at an all-time high in WWE after he concocted the devious “Fiend” character in the summer of 2018. Although Wyatt’s loss to Goldberg at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia hurt the Fiend’s character, a win over Cena at WrestleMania 36 would change everything.

According to a report from Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue, Cena “truly believes” in Wyatt and wants to do “everything in his power” to help him. Per Colohue, Cena was the one who wanted WWE to book Wyatt to pin him inside the Elimination Chamber in that WWE Title match three years ago.

Colohue says he’s confident that Cena wanted to return to WWE to work this WrestleMania program with Wyatt in order to “build” him up. Given their history, particularly in Wyatt’s title run before WrestleMania 33, it all makes sense.

Earlier this year, Colohue reported that Cena is the one who doesn’t want to beat Ric Flair’s record by becoming a 17-time world champion, even though the company and Flair himself are in favor of it.

Colohue stated that Cena prefers to focus the remainder of his wrestling career on helping other stars in the company, setting the table for the future by helping the current full-time crop of superstars.

Wyatt has been one of WWE’s most well-known performers for years, but every time he’s been on the cusp of stardom, the rug has been pulled underneath him. The end to his run in 2017 against Randy Orton at WrestleMania is an example of this, and some fans were worried that his loss to Goldberg would be another.

However, if Cena is intent on putting over Wyatt at WrestleMania and making The Fiend one of the few people to beat the 16-time champion at the Show of Shows, then Wyatt could finally be a made man. And that’s especially true if this storyline ends up being even better than the first one during WrestleMania 30 season.
