On last week’s episode of NXT, the Velveteen Dream revealed Roderick Strong was never his real target and he had his eye on more than just revenge.

After a four-month absence, The Velveteen Dream returned on Feb. 5 and immediately set his sights on Roderick Strong and The Undisputed Era. The popular stable cost him the North American title and later put him on the shelf. However, Dream made it clear that his true motive is to finally ascend to the top of the “black and gold brand” as the NXT Champion.

Last week, the Velveteen Dream stunned the NXT Universe when he pushed Strong out of the steel cage, costing himself the match. Then, he locked himself inside with Adam Cole and proceeded to take the fight to the champion. Afterward, he climbed to the top of the cage and raised the NXT title over his head, possibly foreshadowing his future win.

Wednesday, Dream confirmed that he is coming for Cole and the NXT Championship. Frankly, he’s due for another shot at the title after he unsuccessfully challenged Tommaso Ciampa over a year ago at TakeOver: WarGames. As a matter of fact, this seems like as good of a time as any for the Velveteen Dream to win the brand’s top prize.
