Ricochet

When Ricochet was signed to the WWE back in 2018, the excitement around his inclusion was palpable. After years of tearing down the house for organizations such as Dragon Gate, PWG and others; Ricochet was heading to the largest promotion in the industry. Some pundits wondered how a man of his size would be used in the WWE, a promotion that was once known as the “Land of the Giants.”

On one hand, there were those that believed his athleticism and abilities in the ring would be enough to get him over. But the other argument was that leadership within the WWE would struggle in giving Ricochet the opportunity to get over with the crowds. Three months into 2020 things don’t look good for Ricochet’s future within the organization.

Ricochet’s run in the WWE is the tale of two stories. He went from putting on great matches with the likes of Pete Dunne and Adam Cole in NXT, to being beaten cleanly by Riddick Moss on Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago.

On the surface Ricochet has everything that should resonate with fans as a babyface. With dashing good looks and a move set to wow the fans, he should be the type of wrestler that bookers find a way to elevate. Instead, WWE Creative seems to be at a loss at what to do with Ricochet. In a span of a month he went from wrestling Brock Lesnar at Super Show Down, to facing off against Eric Young on Main Event.

Perhaps turning Ricochet heel or sending him back to NXT are options to help rebuild his character. There’s also the suggestion to remove him from television entirely. Whatever the recommendation may be, Ricochet is a talent that’s being misused by the WWE without any clear direction for change soon.
