WWE announced moving WrestleMania 36 to the Performance Center, but another relocation may be in order – one to the historic Madison Square Garden.

Originally, WWE had plans to hold WrestleMania 36 inside of the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. Obviously, the recent worldwide spread of the Coronavirus put a stop to those plans.

As was announced yesterday, WWE has relocated Mania from an arena that packs 65,980 seats to a crowdless Performance Center, WWE’s much smaller training facility. For those fretting about the idea of the Grandest Stage of Them All suddenly not having much of a stage, fret not, as this may not be a permanent change after all.

According to WrestlingNews.Co, per the @FightOracle Twitter account that previously broke news of Edge being cleared to compete and CM Punk’s pre-Backstage talks with FOX Sports, the move to the Performance Center is more so for precautionary reasons. An insurance policy, so to speak, to oblige their requirement to mitigate damages in the case of the original venue not going as planned, and billing the Performance Center as the new location fulfills that requirement.

However, WWE, apparently, is under the assumption that the city of Orlando will shut down their Performance Center play for Mania, but announcing that relocation at least saves face for them; and gives the impression that WWE at least tried to keep the ball running.

Instead, WWE’s real plan is to move WrestleMania 36 to Madison Square Garden for a Jun. 7 release date.

The only times WrestleMania has been held at MSG was for Manias 1, 10, and 20. If it follows through, WrestleMania 36 will mark The Show of Shows’ first Mania showing in 16 years.

All things considered, it seems more than likely that such a move could and will take place. Currently, judging from social media, the idea to a Mania without an audience seems mixed.

Plus, with 140 cases (more than most states right now) of COVID-19 in the state of Florida, it seems unlikely that Florida would let WWE put on a Mania with a large gathering, even if that gathering is only of staff and crew with no fans.

How would you feel about Mania being postponed and moved to MSG?
