WWE superstar King Corbin is one of the most hateable characters in professional wrestling and can often feel like a drag on the show, but the company absolutely loves him for it.

Ever since leaving the “Lone Wolf” character behind, Baron Corbin has become one of the most hated superstars in WWE.

The heat he generates from live crowds makes him one of the company’s most valuable villains, as WWE see him as someone they can reliably use to give a babyface more momentum.

Now known as King Corbin after winning the King of the Ring tournament last year, the former Money in the Bank winner is in an interesting position heading into WrestleMania season.

He and Elias appear to be locked in a feud, and since Elias won’t be facing John Cena at the Show of Shows, perhaps Corbin and “The Drifter” could have a ‘Mania match.

Corbin doesn’t have an announced match, but it would be a surprise if he doesn’t play a role on either night at the Performance Center. Because WWE have a high amount of trust in him.

Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue recently told Korey Gunz on Dropkick DiSKussions that WWE views Corbin’s in-ring work as “clinical” and have “a lot of trust” in what he can do.

Corbin joined SmackDown in 2016, yet, per Colohue, he’s already viewed as an “old pro” caliber of a wrestler due to this trust backstage.

It’s honestly not surprising. Corbin has been used as acting GM, retired Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35, and recently feuded with Roman Reigns and The Usos. He’s been used in major programs quite consistently, coming a long way since John Cena laughed in his face after a failed cash in on Jinder Mahal in 2017.

Colohue’s report came after Corbin had a match with an empty arena on SmackDown, as Colohue stated that the wrestlers used in the empty arena shows are going to be the people the promotion trusts the most.

Corbin is clearly in that caliber of performer right now, and all the hate he receives from wrestling fans merely feeds into this status. “The King” does exactly what his bosses tell him to do, even if it seems bland to many. Corbin plays an unselfish role in and out of the ring as a more classic heel, and WWE seems to appreciate him greatly for it.
