6. Stairs Match: The Big Show vs. Erick Rowan (Tables, Ladders, Chairs & Stairs 2014)

When WWE chose to make the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match into an entire themed annual pay-per-view, it wasn’t surprisingly that things eventually went off the rails. Perhaps no example of that is better than the first (and, I think, only) Stairs Match, which pitted Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family against The Big Show.

Essentially it was a No Disqualification Match, but the only legal weapon was the steel stairs that sit at the corners of the ring. On top of the usual stairs around the ring, there was also excess stairs littering the ramp, and there was a description of the anatomy of the stairs in a short package before the match. Keep in mind, there was no logical reason via storyline to have a Stairs Match between these two.

On top of being hilariously over the top, and unnecessary, it’s worth noting that this match is so dangerous it’s cringeworthy. The steel stairs are unpredictable, jagged, extremely heavy, and difficult to maneuver.

Erick Rowan and The Big Show did their best to make this a great match, but it was really doomed from the start. If you wanna laugh at some huge metal objects flying around or having large men thrown into them, that’s what you’ll get here.
