An Empty Arena Isn’t The Moment

Of course, we all know why WrestleMania will be a two night event this year and no, it’s not because WrestleMania is “Too Big For One Night,” per the headline. It’s because the worldwide pandemic that is the novel coronavirus spread is keeping masses of people in their homes.

Hence why all of WWE’s shows these past few weeks have been held in an empty Performance Center. While we can say WWE are trying their best to make the best out of a crap situation, let’s be honest: WrestleMania should probably be cancelled right now.

Not only because the wrestlers are put at risk (this is why an immunocompromised Roman Reigns just dropped out of the show), but because certain moments that deserve an audience don’t hit the same without one.

A heel beating the WWE Universe’s most beloved Superstar after the latter successfully defended their belt for a year deserves a crowd engulfing them with boos. Without being surrounded by such a crowd, Shayna Baszler’s coronation may suffer and as a result, maybe her title reign will suffer.

Rather than waste the moment, save it for a night where WWE can perform in front of fans again once this all dies down and some semblance of normalcy returns to the world. Have Lynch retain for now, then lose in front of a crowd.
