WWE WrestleMania 36: 3 reasons why Becky Lynch should beat Shayna Baszler
A Heel Run Has Potential
Now look … wait, wait, WAIT just a second. Before you get your pitchforks out on me, just hear (or read) what I have to say first.
I’m not saying Becky Lynch turning heel is the ideal option, but it is an option. Seeing how bad turning Stone Cold Steve Austin into a heel hurt the business for WWE in 2001, turning their biggest babyface and top merchandise seller into a heel probably wouldn’t do WWE good business in 2020.
However, a heel turn can be justifiable if there is a long line of babyface challengers lined up for The Man to put over in defeat. Even after a year of dominance, such a line exists. Not only in the form of faces from SmackDown (i.e. Naomi) but, of course, there is also a huge farm of talent from NXT.
Names like Io Shirai, Bianca Belair and even current NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley could benefit from overtaking a heel Lynch for the title.
Throughout her reign, Becky Lynch has emphasized for any and all challenger put in front of her to step up to her level. For a rising star or just a star yet to face Lynch (again, Naomi, wink wink) would benefit tremendously from getting a rub from The Man. Maybe that star is Shayna Baszler. Maybe that challenger could arise post-Mania season.
