Six years after the first live NXT event on the WWE Network, we take a look back at 25 of the greatest NXT TakeOver matches.

It’s been over six years since NXT burst onto the scene with NXT Arrival and the subsequent inaugural NXT TakeOver, and the events have gone on to create some of the most memorable and must-see matches in WWE history. The reality is that just about every single NXT TakeOver is enjoyable, but new fans who haven’t seen them or longtime fans looking to rewatch them might be wondering where to start.

Fear not, as we’ve compiled a massive list of the top 25 matches in NXT TakeOver history. I’ll be honest, this was one of the hardest lists of this size I’ve ever put together. My initial list of NXT TakeOver matches that were noteworthy was over 80 matches long.

The narrowed-down second grouping of the top 25 contenders was still in the high 30s. However, decisions had to be made. It was difficult to cut some really great matches, but that’s the wonderful struggle of NXT. Almost everything they’ve done has been amazing.
