WWE: Ranking the Top 25 NXT TakeOver matches of all time
22. Street Fight: Dakota Kai vs. Tegan Nox (NXT TakeOver: Portland, Moda Center, 2/16/20)
Similar to the previous women’s match on this list, this one had one flaw. It didn’t show up until very late in the match, as most of this is Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox just absolutely destroying each other.
Former friends turned enemies tend to create the greatest rivals, and this situation was no different. A botched table spot near the end somehow seemed even more terrifying and capped off the most violent women’s grudge match in NXT TakeOver history.
21. WarGames Match: The Undisputed Era [Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly] vs. The Authors of Pain [Akam & Rezar] and Roderick Strong vs. SAnitY [Alexander Wolfe, Eric Young, and Killian Dain] (NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Toyota Center in Houston, TX, 11/18/17)
In 2017, we saw the return of WarGames for the first time in over 15 years, and I was lucky enough to witness it live. This was before Roderick Strong had joined The Undisputed Era, and was instead a bitter rival targeting Adam Cole throughout this chaotic and violent contest.
Also, please watch for Alexander Wolfe’s spot going through two tables. He gets a severe gash in the back of his head, which WWE does their best to keep off-camera. Having been there live, I can tell you they actually stapled Wolfe’s wound closed through the cage itself, which is why a spontaneous “WOLFE” chant breaks out.
20. NXT Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Adrian Neville (c) vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Sami Zayn (NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way, Full Sail University, 9/11/14)
This multi-man gem from the early days of NXT still holds up now. Adrian Neville, now PAC in AEW, was on his way to a dominant reign as NXT Champion.
Neville came up against the rising stars Sami Zayn and Tyler Breeze, as well as a veteran in Tyson Kidd who was trying to reinvent himself. Easily one of the top Fatal 4-Way matches WWE has produced in the last decade, this one deserves a watch.
