WrestleMania 36: 3 reasons why Sasha Banks should win the title
WrestleMania Moment
As ridiculous as it is, Sasha Banks has never had a WrestleMania moment. Heading into ‘Mania 36, she isn’t the only one who can say that, as Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler, for example, haven’t either. But when you compare the other opportunities Owens and Ziggler have been given in WWE to Sasha, who has made a bigger impact on the company than either of them, it’s clear that Banks has been short-changed.
Banks had a huge title win at SummerSlam 2017 over bitter rival Alexa Bliss, but she hasn’t had a singles title win or a big win at major PPV since. Even from a kayfabe perspective, an elite competitor like her is surely due for a big win, and nobody in this Fatal Five-Way match is better at figuring out creative ways to win under chaotic circumstances.
Moments also don’t exist in isolation. Sasha’s win at SummerSlam three years ago doesn’t feel as special as it should have, because WWE unwisely (and unfairly, I might add) booked her to lose the title quickly after the big win.
If Sasha Banks wins at WrestleMania 36, it won’t be in front of a roaring crowd, which may be seen as hurting the moment. But her fan base will appreciate it just as much, and her fan base is massive. Furthermore, the win will set up Banks for a title reign that will likely last four months at a minimum, until she presumably drops the title at SummerSlam.
There are a lot of assumptions there, and assumptions are dangerous when it comes to predicting WWE’s often unjust (given her star power and talent) booking of The Legit Boss. But nevertheless, she has earned this WrestleMania moment.
