WWE: 5 superstars who could beat Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship
4. Asuka
The only woman on this list to have already tried and failed to dethrone Becky Lynch as Raw Women’s Champion is Asuka, but there’s a good reason that she could still be the one. Going back to the 2019 Royal Rumble, reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka was able to defeat then-challenger Becky Lynch by submission.
That was the same night Lynch went on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble, putting her on the course for WrestleMania 35 and the title reign which still continues to this day. As for Asuka, she found herself defeated by Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship just days before potentially defending her title at WrestleMania 35.
Becky Lynch left WrestleMania 35 with the title she failed to take from Asuka at the 2019 Royal Rumble, but lost the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair a month later at Money in the Bank. Since losing the title, Asuka turned her focus to a new partnership with fellow Joshi veteran Kairi Sane which eventually saw The Kabuki Warriors capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
While Asuka did try to challenge Lynch while still reigning as one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, she came up short. The Kabuki Warriors held those titles from October of 2019 into last night’s first-half of WrestleMania 36, but came up short against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. If Asuka had a renewed focus on singles success moving forward, we could absolutely see her go back to the dominance she once showed against Becky Lynch, dethroning “The Man” and ending her record-setting reign.
