John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt [Firefly Funhouse Match]

Result: Bray Wyatt

Rating: 4.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: B+

There are so many key references in this match. Bray Wyatt and John Cena references the Cena’s ‘ruthless aggression’ debut with Kurt Angle, his relationship with Nikki Bella, and even Vince McMahon’s bodybuilding fetish. They transition to Cena’s rap gimmick, in which Wyatt conveys how Cena is the golden goose who gets all the chances Wyatt never got and that Cena is not a hero since he capitalizes on everyone’s weaknesses for fame.

All the characters of Bray Wyatt were addressed, especially Husky Harris and the Eater of Worlds. They reflect back on their WrestleMania 30 match, in which Wyatt gave Cena a steel chair to finish him. Wyatt gave Cena the chair again to not make the same mistake again, and Cena swung the chair this time but Wyatt disappeared.

Cena entered as a member of NWO and attacked Wyatt until he noticed he was actually attacking Husky The Pig. With Bray Wyatt as the referee, The Fiend delivered a Sister Abigail to Cena for the three-count and the victory.

Analysis: This had some genius callbacks and references. Although some would not appreciate this since it was not really a match, would a Bray Wyatt match really do his character justice? This performance made Wyatt look like the invincible superstar he should look like and redemption was accomplished from six years ago. Good booking.
