Candice LeRae

While she’s struggled to gain footing and see significant singles success so far, there are few who embody the spirit of NXT more than Candice LeRae. With 18 years of in-ring experience at only 34 years of age, LeRae is an undeniable independent wrestling veteran.

Since joining WWE in May of 2017, Candice LeRae has competed in the Mae Young Classic, WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, WarGames, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble. She’s also put on instant classics at NXT TakeOver events, most notably against Io Shirai back at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

While we have seen LeRae make a failed attempt to take the NXT Women’s Championship from Shayna Baszler in the past, it would be something altogether different to see her against an established WWE star like Charlotte Flair. Even if she comes up short, LeRae could be elevated with a title opportunity.

Asuka

If Charlotte Flair is going to be flaunting her NXT Women’s Championship around on Raw and SmackDown, she’s bound to get the attention of some former NXT Women’s Champions. No woman has had a longer or more dominant reign with that title than Asuka.

The undefeated streak that continued through her reign as NXT Women’s Champion was ultimately ended by Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. In recent months, Asuka’s focused had turned to tag team success along with Kairi Sane as The Kabuki Warriors.

Now with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles no longer in their possession, the allure of recapturing the title that launched her NXT and WWE career might be enough to put Asuka back into the hunt for singles success. While we’ve seen these two square off before, it would give a different flavor to have it be over the NXT Women’s Championship.
