Kip Sabian

Speaking of not capitalizing on someone while they’re hot, let’s talk about Kip Sabian.

When we were first introduced to Kip Sabian, he won the very first match in AEW history, by defeating Sammy Guevara on the pre-show of the company’s first Pay-Per-View, Double or Nothing. And then … nothing happened for the young man.

In fact, his opponent has had a much better calendar year than Sabian, having aligned himself with Chris Jericho, picking up some huge wins, getting title matches, main event television spots, and frequent PPV appearances. More than Sabian has had.

It seemed like AEW saw the talent in Sabian to hand him a huge accolade, but had no idea what to do with him. Thankfully, a blessing in disguise came when they decide to capitalize on his real life relationship with Penelope Ford by having him feud with Ford’s ex, Joey Janela.

Since then, Sabian won that feud by beating Janela, had a few high profile matches with the likes of Cody, just started feuding with Colt Cabana, and is now in the TNT Title tournament. He’s on the right track for a great 2020.
