EC3 holds nothing back, calls out WWE and MJF
Just days after being released, EC3 has taken to Twitter and didn’t hold anything back by calling out WWE and MJF with striking language.
On Wednesday, WWE chose profit margins over people and released multiple wrestlers and producers including former 2-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3, once known as Ethan Carter III.
Taking to Twitter, EC3 laid down a clean minute of straight fire that took both WWE and MJF to task.
In the opening few lines of the promo, EC3 makes it clear that his “Top One Percent” character in WWE was just that and not the reality he actually lives. EC3 also emphasized that it was a character he could do “better than anybody else” before quietly but clearly saying “MJF” under his breath.
MJF, or Maxwell Jacob Friedman, is much closer in reality to a “Top One Percent” person than EC3, but I’d argue EC3 is right on the money in saying he has the ability to execute that character better than MJF could ever dream of. If you’re not convinced, just take a look back at the entitled “owner’s nephew” character he embodied in TNA/Impact Wrestling.
As fun as it was to hear the jab at MJF, the cutting and striking language EC3 chose to point directly at WWE hit much harder as he continued speaking:
"“There is a true top one percent. A power higher. The charlatan’s cabal who have entered us into a creative totalitarianism. They abhor free speech. They punish you for revealing your true self, and then they wash their hands of you when a worldwide pandemic affects their bottom line. I accept that. Do you? Reject their narrative. Reject the falsifications of history. Reject their commands for obedience. Free yourself. You have been warned.”"
Hitting harder than perhaps anyone else unceremoniously and heartlessly released by WWE has so far, EC3 takes them to task for establishing an aura of “creative totalitarianism” that rings true considering what we learned from Jon Moxley after his departure from the company.
Even more striking than that is EC3 directly addressing the fact that WWE, after establishing such a stifling work environment, chose to “wash their hands of [multiple wrestlers and staff] when a worldwide pandemic affects their bottom line.”
Get ’em, EC3!
WWE was morally and ethically bankrupt when the decision was made on Wednesday to choose profit margins over people and needlessly release multiple wrestlers, producers, and staff that the company absolutely has the funds to hold on to.
As others have pointed out, WWE is on track to have their most profitable year on record even if they sell zero merchandise and don’t host another live event all year. While it’s not really surprising that WWE finally had to release some talent that they’d been hoarding and leaving on the shelf, the timing is truly abhorrent.
While I can understand why some released WWE talent don’t want to go too hard against their former employer in hopes they might get re-signed in the future, it was truly refreshing to see EC3 not mincing words and really highlighting what WWE has done.
