In May 2016, the first episode of ‘Being The Elite’ aired on YouTube, and the wrestling world profoundly changed since. The show’s popularity even helped encourage the birth of a new promotion, AEW.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks started ‘The Elite’ after Omega took control of the Bullet Club from AJ Styles and kicked the WWE-bound wrestler out of the faction he once led to great heights. Over the years, The Elite have added new members, including Hangman Page and Cody Rhodes, and their popularity helped lead to the creation of the new promotion AEW.

The Young Bucks are widely praised for their creativity in the ring and as characters, but the best example of their creative prowess can be found in their YouTube channel, Being The Elite.

A show that has aired approximately weekly – or even multiple times in a week – ‘Being The Elite’ began in May 2016. It has blossomed since then, becoming a weekly staple for wrestling fans and playing a major role in AEW.

And in the year following AEW’s official beginning, ‘Being The Elite’  has played a key role in developing storylines on weekly television, teasing signings, or dropping hints on what’s going on behind-the-scenes. The show has been a way for wrestling fans disillusioned with WWE’s story-telling and restricted creativity to see pro wrestling done completely differently.

However, all good things must come to an end, and it seems like Being The Elite’s 200th episode may be one of its last.

Hints were dropped throughout the episode about it being the final show, including one by Young Bucks’ star Matt Jackson himself.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, via Cageside Seats’s daily rumor roundup, the show isn’t “dead” but will likely end soon, as teased on the 200th episode.

If ‘Being The Elite’ is indeed coming to a close, it will be a sad moment for wrestling fans, who have watched the show become an important part of the industry. It has been a cornerstone for AEW, and it’s created memorable moments and GIFs that have helped put a spotlight on rising stars like Marty Scurll and Hangman Page.

But sometimes it’s best to end something when it is popular before the commitment becomes exhausting or the product is no longer as good as it once was. The end of ‘Being The Elite” – again, if it is indeed ending – could mean a new beginning for another creative project headed by the Young Bucks and other members of The Elite.
