Austin Theory

This is a dream match that I want to see less out of it being a match-up made in heaven and more because I want to see what Austin Theory can do when the lights are on bright with the biggest challenge one could ask for staring down on him. Specifically. if he can live up to the hype when it counts.

After being a hot commodity on the independent circuit (specifically in EVOLVE, where he became the company’s first and only double heavyweight champion, winning the WWN and Evolve titles at the same time), he had a decent amount of underground hype when he signed his WWE contract. It even garnered the attention of Cena himself, once posting a picture of Theory on his Instagram.

Since coming to the company, WWE made it clear they have big plans for Theory. After all, his onscreen debut was at a TakeOver show, his debut match was for the NXT North American Championship, and he is comprised in Raw’s top heel stable with Andrade, Zelina Vega and Angel Garza. He’s the next big thing, apparently.

Honestly, when I look at Austin Theory, I just see the basic prototype model for the average prototype that gets pumped out of the WWE machine (i.e. typical, muscular white dude with a square jaw and questionable charisma). Then again, Mr. Prototype himself, John Cena, was in the exact same position his rookie year. Maybe he can bring something special out of Theory.

If he can hang with Cena, he can hang with anyone.
