MCMG vs. Generation Me

Yes, it is another match versus Generation Me. This time it’s an Ultimate X match at Destination X in  March 2010. This match was to become No. 1 contenders.

Fair warning: the video quality isn’t great, but it’s the only full version match that I can find. If you’d like a clearer picture, here’s a highlight reel.

This match is more energetic, high-flying antics in an Ultimate X format. By this point, Generation Me were one of the hottest tag teams and the Guns were a well oiled machine. Sabin’s experience in Ultimate X matches came into play when Jeremy Buck was inching high above the ring when Sabin kicked Max in the stomach and then ran across his back to send Jeremy crashing down to the canvas.

Really fun match and a great way to showcase how far these teams had come in their feud. Their feud was underrated and looking back, it was tag team wrestling at its finest in the mid-2000s.

MCMG vs. Generation Me

In January 2010, Generation Me debuted in TNA against the Guns. Fast forward to September at No Surrender where they’d be facing MCMG for their tag team titles.

While Generation Me were still a fairly new tag team, they were able to hold their own against the tag team champions. On commentary, Tazz mentioned that both teams “oozed quickness”. There were two whole Superkicks in this match, one from Jeremy (Nick Jackson) and one from both Guns simultaneously.

After the match, Generation Me turned heel because they didn’t win the tag team titles. They injured Alex Shelley (kayfabe?) and were pretty pleased with themselves.

dark. Next. The Revival need to find a new name

Thus concludes the best Motor City Machine Guns matches currently on YouTube. Motor City Machine Guns were easily one of the best tag teams in the mid-2000s and are severely underrated. As more fans discover their matches, hopefully they’ll realize their greatness.

Sabin is working his way back from ACL surgery while Shelley had been working dates across the globe before the novel coronavirus pandemic. They were supposed to reunite during Mania Week (thanks, COVID-19), so we can only hope to get more MCMG against the new generation when wrestling fully restarts.
