Joey Ryan vs. Cousin Jake

Result: Joey Ryan stole the win

Rating: 2.5/5.0 Stars

Grade: C+

I’m still getting used to Joey Ryan’s new #CancelCulture character, but it’s an interesting personality to explore in this day-and-age. I’m sure this may have been a tag team match if Rob Van Dam and Cody Deaner were able to be there, but I feel like Ryan is better off on his own.

Jake used his size to his advantage before commercial break, and then we came back to see Joey in control. The middle of the match was a bit slower for my taste, which can be a problem for any promotion during this time of empty-arena shows.

Despite his size, Jake was flying out of the ring and throwing himself around like he was in the X-Division. To the surprise of pretty much no one, Ryan stole the win by using the rope to his advantage.

If there was going to be a heel going over on this show, it was going to be Joey Ryan. I don’t think the loss hurts Cousin Jake at all, especially since he’s without his tag team partner right now. Where does Ryan go from here, though? I don’t exactly know why, but I’m down to see Ryan attempt to cancel Chris Bey’s current hot streak.
