Apollo Crews may be out of the next WWE PPV, but that doesn’t mean his stock should immediately halt as there’s a belt he should be holding in the near future.

Wrestling fans are passionate about their favorite competitors. When someone does not get the “push” they deem justified, terms like “underutilized” and “buried” come to mind. Some may have used those words to define all of Apollo Crews’ run in the WWE.

However, these last few weeks Crews has shown he has everything needed to be much more than booked by the WWE. This recent turn in the story heading into Money in the Bank must end with him taking the United States title from Andrade.

Andrade and Crews had a fantastic back and forth match on the past edition of Monday Night Raw. This came after the action experienced in the opening six-man tag. Strong performances have become the norm for Crews as he has been leaned on heavily since the coronavirus global pandemic has limited the number of roster members available for WWE tapings and live shows.

This started with a nearly 30 minute match with Aleister Black that was easily the best that both men have put forth to date. On Monday Crews not only showed that he can go with anyone in the ring, but he showed flashes of character during the backstage segment as well.

Then, it happened. The “injury” that has forced him to be pulled from the ladder match at the upcoming PPV. Before Crews fans throw their hands up in frustration, perhaps this is a shift in direction that can lead to him holding the United States title.

Right now, that belt is around the waist of Andrade. Andrade’s US title run has left much to the imagination, but that is not completely his fault. His 30-day suspension from earlier this year halted any momentum he was building. Then the pandemic hit.

As a part of Zelina Vega’s stable of wrestlers, he has been featured heavily on Raw each week. However, those features have not been revolving around defending the title. Instead, he is been pushed into the near main event picture.

Now, this is fine as there are a variety of stories to be told there. But while holding what is considered a mid-card title, that limits the use of that title. Enter Crews to take the title from him and do both men a favor at the same time.

For Andrade, without that title he could be the front man for Vega’s new stable. While he and Drew McIntyre recently had a match on Raw, that does not mean the feud needs to end there. There is a longer story that could be told, and WWE Creative hinted toward that.

Putting Andrade in that position elevates him, Vega, Angel Garza and Austin Theory all at the same time. And if there is anything that the WWE needs right now its more names that can become attractions in the future.

Crews also stands to gain. Both the US and Intercontinental titles are “work rate” titles. The men holding those belts are expected to be able to perform and give fans top rate action from bell to bell. Crews would fit into that archetype very well. There is a list of main roster wrestlers that we’ve yet to see Crews work with.

Using the current situation to build Crews up as a performer with these great matches opens the door to even more when the WWE is back to full tapings. Crews is the exact type of man that the United States title was meant for at this point in his career.

Apollo Crews may be out of the Money in the Bank ladder match. At first glance, this could seem like a halt in his career. But if leveraged right he could be the one to take the US title off Andrade. A move that would benefit everyone involved.
