9.       Toru Yano Talk Show

New Japan Together has really given us some amazing talk shows throughout the last few months but none excited me as much as the Toru Yano Talk Show. As someone who doesn’t have access to the Yano DVD’s, the idea that I would get to see a live version with English subtitles was probably the best thing that could happen. Also, for me, Chaos was my favourite faction when I started watching New Japan back in 2018. Even now, the idea of a chaotic Chaos show brings a smile to my face. Luckily, I was not disappointed at all and it was everything I expected and more.

In this episode, we saw Sensei Yano and the Chaos classmates of Roppongi 3k’s Sho and Yoh and the Stone Pitbull Tomohiro Ishii going through a school day. From the word go, this programme definitely showed us a different side to all of the men. Ishii was back in his school uniform acting uncharacteristically cute, Sho was the grade A teacher’s pet and Yoh was the unruly troublemakers. With class in session, there was a lot to take in.

We saw thumb war battles, art lessons and even got to see how much Kanji each member could remember. However, the biggest thing was hearing funny stories from the past. We delved into the world of a young Ishii and his travels and the story of Yoh crashing Ishii’s car when he was a young lion. If that wasn’t funny enough, after phoning Yoshi Hashi and Goto to get themselves to the studio, the reliable Yoshi Hashi managed to make it with only ten minutes of the stream left. Utter Chaos.

It’s such a light-hearted show and so easy to watch that you’d be crazy not to set aside a small amount of time in your day to watch it. Do it, if not just to see a very kawaii Ishii.
