Jay White vs. Kazuchika Okada
We close the list with another rivalry involving Kazuchika Okada, except this one is his most recent feud with Jay White, who is the most devilish heel on this planet. (Please do not try to argue that it’s King Corbin with me!)
White returned to NJPW as the “Switchblade” in 2017, shocked the world at Wrestle Kingdom 12 when he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship, joined Okada’s faction Chaos, and then made his biggest move yet after losing the title to Juice Robinson in America.
At the 2018 G1 Climax, White defeated BOTH Tanahashi and Okada in the tournament, firmly establishing himself as the undisputed top heel in NJPW. Then at Destruction in Kobe, he attacked Tanahashi and Okada after the former’s successful “briefcase” main event title match against the Rainmaker.
As White was attacking Okada, Gedo came out, seemingly to aid his former protege. Instead, Gedo hit Okada with the chair and made his intentions clear. He was abandoning the man he managed for several years and aligning himself with the most dastardly villain in NJPW.
The rivalry between Okada and White became more personal than any other feud in the promotion, with White – Gedo still in his corner – eventually defeating Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 13.
White would go on to defeat Tanahashi again, but this time he did so for the IWGP Heavyweight Champion to finally reign atop NJPW. His run at the top didn’t last long, though, as Okada got the final say in their feud, defeating the now-Bullet Club leader at the G1 Supercard for a satisfying, revenge-minded title victory.
