Liv Morgan is not being buried nor pushed by WWE, she’s just in a weird limbo.

To say that current WWE NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair’s win over Liv Morgan on  Monday Night Raw was a burial is premature. That’s because Flair’s story is now being told in NXT, not RAW. In addition, for a match that went about three minutes you see Liv presented as strong, yet still learning.

Furthermore, to go from wrestling the likes of Ruby Riott and Asuka to Flair shows the character is being given a great deal of depth on the card good matches to grow from. If Flair was to bury Liv she would have ended this match within a minute or so and dominated the entire match.

That was not the case.

What you see is Liv showing why she deserved to be in the ring with Charlotte. Her eagerness to prove herself was shown when she went for Oblivion and was countered by Flair’s Figure 8 which secures the win for the Queen. Let’s be real – At this point in her career, beating Flair would almost be too early. Liv’s new persona of this being “the next chapter of her life” and all that is still being built. The last time she lost was against Asuka on April 6.

Was she being buried then? No, it was the same model. She wasn’t supposed to beat Asuka, but show she could hang with the best of them. This type of build was very different from her matches against  Ruby Riott because a different story is being told. Riott wants to prove her friend, her subordinate (if I would be so bold to say) still exists under all the makeup and leather.

Liv Morgan is trying to show she has grown far beyond the Riott Squad days and it’s working. With Covid-19 still running rampant, I wouldn’t dare push an upcoming character like hers without giving it a chance to grow in front of a crowd. The WWE is waiting things out before they push her, because when small crowds are allowed back to the shows, she will be the draw.

Until then, what do you do? You beat your former best friend not once, but twice. Then show how eager you are and take on a champion.

Next. Liv Morgan took another step toward her championship potential. dark

Lost? Great, now they can slow down her progress and keep it cruising. That loss shows that while Liv is getting better in Singles competition, she still has a lot to learn. Both matches she’s lost were to main eventers I might add. That’s not a bad thing! That simply means when her name is put in the main event conversation, she is justified not by her wins but her effort. Both losses said, “I may have lost, but I almost had you, and almost had you convincingly.”  That, I can respect and look forward to seeing as a future Women’s Champion.
