WWE Money in the Bank 2020: 5 burning questions for the PPV
5. Can Bray Wyatt get back to the top?
It still upsets many wrestling fans that Bray Wyatt had to drop the Universal Championship to Goldberg in Saudi Arabia, simply because Vince McMahon thought Goldberg would be a “bigger name” for Roman Reigns to beat at WrestleMania 36. When, in fact, Goldberg was embarrassingly bad on the mic in his rivalry with Reigns, whereas Wyatt vs. Reigns would have been a great story with a rich history.
In the end, Reigns decided to put his family first and make the honorable decision of not competing at WrestleMania, so WWE went through Goldberg just to have him drop the title to Braun Strowman.
But on the bright side, Strowman got his moment, even if we all wanted it to be Reigns’ night, and he’s embarked on an entertaining rivalry with his former brainwasher, Bray Wyatt.
The former “Eater of Worlds” tried to get Strowman to apologize and return to his good graces, but Braun was not about to be manipulated again.
It seems like Strowman could continue to hold the title, but it also feels like giving Wyatt a second chance to hold the championship as “The Fiend” would be more interesting. Wyatt showed at WrestleMania 36 with his Firefly Fun House match that he still has the goods, and the more creative approach from WWE could make his second Universal Title reign much more memorable.
