4 WWE Championship opponents for Drew McIntyre after MITB

While Randy Orton and Edge’s story may not be done with despite Edge’s decisive Last Man Standing victory at WrestleMania 36, it’s hard to envision WWE prolonging the program between the two former tag team partners.

Orton is one of the most sadistic heels in WWE history, and he could be an especially tough challenge for Drew McIntyre. Although McIntyre handled Seth Rollins with aplomb at Money in the Bank, Orton’s experience and twisted mind games would give McIntyre an entirely different match.

By beating Orton, McIntyre would add The Viper to The Beast on the list of legends he’s killed – callback fully intended there – and the WWE Championship train would keep on rolling with that high-profile victory.

McIntyre vs. Rollins could be an athletic showcase with a motivated Orton, and based on how great McIntyre’s matches have been with his intensity, I bet Orton will be motivated to match the former Chosen One’s desire.

The best part about Orton vs. McIntyre could be the closing sequences. At Money in the Bank, we saw Rollins vs. McIntyre close with a Stomp attempt into a Glasgow Kiss into a Superkick into a rebound Claymore for a 1-2-3. Again, the in-ring action could be tremendous, especially if McIntyre’s style rules the day.
