WWE SummerSlam 2020 Predictions: Drew McIntyre Will Slay A Superhero
By Mark Justice
Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Jinder Mahal [WWE Championship]
Assuming Drew McIntyre holds onto the WWE Championship until SummerSlam, he should be defending his championship against Jinder Mahal. Recently, Mahal returned to in-ring competition and has been branded as a former WWE Champion to conveniently remind everyone of his main event status as well as the beginning of his hero’s journey.
The double entendres in Jinder Mahal’s promo were riveting because he is a heel trying to be hero, which is quite genius work. Thanks to said branding and their 3MB history, it would be sensible booking if Mahal was McIntyre’s challenger at the biggest event of the summer.
However, he should not dethrone McIntyre by any means. After slaying the Beast, McIntyre should be champion for longer than four months, and he should keep the WWE Championship until Adam Cole gets called up to the main roster because an Undisputed Era attack on McIntyre after SummerSlam would be some neat booking and a nice throwback to NXT.
Prediction: Drew McIntyre
Braun Strowman (c) vs. Bray Wyatt [Universal Championship]
Assuming Braun Strowman holds onto the Universal Championship until SummerSlam, he should be defending his championship against Bray Wyatt. Strowman already defeated the Firefly Funhouse Bray Wyatt at WWE MITB 2020, but he has not yet defeated The Fiend.
Bray Wyatt failed to convert Strowman into the black sheep he used to be in the Wyatt Family. Since Strowman rejected the offer to join Wyatt again, The Fiend will be furious at Wyatt and unleash his dark powers onto Strowman to win back the Universal Championship at the PPV where it debuted.
Prediction: ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt
