AEW: 5 recent WWE releases we’d love to see in All Elite Wrestling
Chris Hero
When he returned to WWE for his second run with the company after his first run ended abruptly in 2013 due to – to put it loosely – creative differences, there was hope that the former Kassius Ohno would return to a bang and his WWE career would work out for the best this time.
Sadly, that was not quite the case. While he continued to deliver in the ring on a consistent basis and had some memorable storylines, it wasn’t long before he became a stepping stone – perhaps enhancement talent is a better word, though it feels strange when applied to a veteran of the sport – for new Superstars to beat as their first match or feud.
To his credit, he went through an excellent rebranding over the last year in moving to NXT UK, where he not only was shaping up to become a top heel on the brand, but a legitimate contender for the NXT UK Championship. But as we know now, he never received such a title match before being released.
A move to AEW not only offers Chris Hero the opportunity to get the veteran’s run he deserved in WWE, but he can also use his experience as a self professed Wrestling Genius to coach young stars behind the scenes. His impact backstage could be as strong as his impact in the ring would be.
