Rachael Ellering

Whenever I think of Rachael Ellering (formerly Rachael Evers in WWE), I think of her string of incredible matches in the now defunct WrestleCircus against the likes of Tessa Blanchard and Christi Jaynes. Ellering stood out of me as someone who could play off her experiences as a pro power lifter in the ring just as well as she could work a body part for the whole match and break it down technically.

In terms of in-ring ability alone, Ellering had “main event star” written all over her in my eyes and I was just as excited as anyone to find out she was signed to WWE. Unfortunately, aside from a pair of Mae Young Classic matches, Ellering hadn’t done much on WWE TV before being sidelined with an injury and now being released.

Outside of circumstances outside of anyone’s control like injuries, this seems like another unfortunate case where WWE scooped up some talent for the sake of scooping up talent without a clear understanding of what to do with that talent.

When added to an already stacked roster of incredible women’s athletes, Ellering would fit right in and have a bevy of great matches to boot.
